FG introduces online verification for academic certificates, scraps physical visits
The Federal Ministry of Education has announced full automation of academic certificate evaluation and authentication, eliminating the need for applicants to visit the ministry physically, according to Peoples Gazette.
Minister of Education Tunji Alausa said the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and forms part of the government’s digital transformation drive. Ministry spokesperson Folasade Boriowo said applicants can now complete the entire credential evaluation process online through a dedicated platform.
Alausa said the reform would reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, accelerate processing, and improve transparency for Nigerians at home and abroad. He added that it would strengthen certification integrity and help institutions and employers verify qualifications more reliably. Applicants were directed to essverify.education.gov.ng.
