First poll ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election shows tight race
Oxford-Metro poll shows Tinubu, Obi, Atiku in tight three-way race
President Bola Tinubu narrowly led Peter Obi in a new national online poll released by Oxford-Metro Analytics, finishing just 1,067 responses ahead of the Labour Party candidate out of 69,110 approved responses collected as of September 7, according to a report by Newsfile Corp.
Tinubu received 24,469 responses, or 35.41 percent, followed by Obi with 23,402, or 33.86 percent, and Atiku Abubakar with 18,430, or 26.67 percent. The remaining candidates and response options together accounted for 4.06 percent, according to the report.
Tinubu recorded the highest tally in 20 states and the Federal Capital Territory, including Lagos, Kano, Kaduna, Oyo and Rivers, while Obi led in eight states, among them Anambra, Enugu and Cross River, and Atiku led in eight states, including Adamawa, Sokoto and Yobe. By geopolitical zone, Tinubu topped the North West, North Central and South West; Obi led the South East and South South; and Atiku led the North East, per the report.

The report noted the poll was an open, self-selected online survey rather than a randomized national sample.
