Former Benue governor Ortom explains switch from Obi to Tinubu ahead of 2027
Former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has explained why he is backing President Bola Tinubu over Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 election, according to Daily Post Nigeria.
Speaking on Arise Television’s “Morning Show” on Tuesday, Ortom said his support for Tinubu was a deliberate political decision, adding that he had declared it publicly when his former G5 colleague, Nyesom Wike, was appointed Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
Ortom, who backed Obi in the 2023 election, said he has no regrets about his shift, stating, “If you can’t beat them, you join them,” following Tinubu’s emergence as president.
