Four family members found dead after Bahamas plane disappearance

Four members of a Florida family who disappeared while flying off the Bahamas coast have been found dead, their relatives have confirmed.

Daily Mail reports that Mario Lamar, 80, was piloting the Piper PA-34 Seneca carrying his wife Lili, 79, and grandchildren Sofia Sosa, 28, and Christian Sosa, 22, when the aircraft vanished from radar on Monday morning.

All four bodies were recovered by Tuesday afternoon, with the search led partly by family members alongside civilians and the US Coast Guard.

FlightAware data showed the plane’s altitude dropped sharply from 10,000 to 3,700 feet within minutes before it disappeared near Andros Island.

In a statement, the family thanked those who assisted in the search and asked for privacy as they mourn “this unimaginable loss.”
