French FA president predicts swift end to Mbappe and Real Madrid’s China controversy
French Football Federation president Philippe Diallo believes the controversy involving Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid and China will be resolved soon after the forward apologised for his recent comments.
Mbappe sparked backlash during the Ballon d’Or gala following remarks about a Mao Zedong dictator meme, with reports claiming that Chinese investors had withdrawn support and broadcasters were considering refusing to televise Real Madrid matches.
Speaking about the situation, Diallo expressed confidence that the issue would not drag on.“The controversy surrounding Kylian Mbappé and China?
This shouldn’t drag on much longer, because Kylian Mbappé explained the context of his statement very well,” he said. “He apologized, and it should be let go so he can continue the season in the best possible conditions,” he added.
According to Madrid Universal, Mbappe is now focused on his season after finishing second behind Harry Kane in the 2026 Ballon d’Or rankings.
