From thick forests to social media: Daring terrorists poke fingers at Nigerian security
For a number of Nigerians living in terror-ravaged communities, freedom comes at a cost. This is even as several reports point to ultimatums by terrorists to communities for payments in millions to avert attacks, demands for taxes to access farms, and a flourishing kidnap industry.
Amid the tears and agonies precipitated by serial abductions for cash and killings, terrorists, in several videos on social media platforms, display what many consider obscene proceeds of their crime, encouraging their followers to submit their account information to benefit from their loot.
In response to their ‘philanthropic gesture’, New Telegraph gathered, they have earned Hausa sobriquets like Sarkin Talakawa(leader of the poor) and Shugaban Nigeria(President of Nigeria) from the same society they terrorise during TikTok live streams; something some deem bizarre.
