FRSC distances itself from fake traffic violation alerts, fake site

Share:

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has disowned a viral message notifying motorists of traffic violations and directing them to a fraudulent website to pay fines, according to TheCable. The corps said the site, “frscgov.top/ng,” was designed to impersonate its official platform, “frsc.gov.ng.”

One motorist said he lost millions of naira after clicking the link and paying a ₦5 fine, while others reported receiving similar messages. FRSC said the scam creates urgency by claiming a new offence has been recorded, then harvests personal and financial information.

The corps urged the public to avoid suspicious links, preserve messages as evidence, and verify offences via its toll-free line, 122, or official website.
