Full List: 12 U.S.-based Nigerian lawyers suspended for fraud, misconduct

A dozen U.S.-based Nigerian lawyers have faced disciplinary sanctions, including suspension and disbarment, for offences ranging from fraud and theft to corruption, according to documents seen by Peoples Gazette. Some have since been reinstated.

Aloysius O. Ejimakor was suspended from practising law in New York for nine months in 2004 after making false claims about his official qualifications. He remains unreinstated.

Abiola O. Adesioye, based in Washington D.C., was suspended in July 2025 from practising before immigration courts and DHS, following a March 2025 suspension order by the D.C. Court of Appeals.

Emelike Nwosuocha, who died in July 2024, was posthumously suspended for three years for misconduct, including failing to pay attorney fees owed in a medical negligence case.

Michael Ozulumba, based in Massachusetts, was suspended for two years from practising before the IRS and EOIR over professional misconduct and client neglect.

Michael Imevbore Ojo, of Houston, Texas, was suspended for 12 months by the State Bar of Texas for neglect and failure to communicate with clients.

Anslem A. Efe, based in Colorado, was suspended indefinitely in 2013 for practising as an attorney without authorisation or lawful U.S. status.

Jude Chukwuma Ezeala, of Maryland, was indefinitely suspended in 2017 by the Court of Appeals of Maryland for professional misconduct.

Olayemi Isaac Falusi was indefinitely suspended in 2018 after practising law in Maryland before his official admission to the state bar.

Anthony Emeka Nze Nwosu, based in Sacramento, was suspended in New York in October 2023 for failing attorney registration obligations and client complaints.

Ginikanwa Chinaemerem Okedi was indefinitely suspended in 2020 for mishandling client trust accounts, dishonesty, fraud, and misrepresentation.

Osamwonyi E. Osagiede, of New Hampshire, was suspended indefinitely in 2009 over unauthorised practice involving dozens of immigration filings.

Martin E. Nwizubo, based in Washington State, was suspended indefinitely in 2016 on disability-inactive status, unrelated to any legal violation.
