Funke Akindele under fire for birthday post on day of Ogogo’s burial

Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has sparked backlash after sharing a birthday message on Monday, the same day veteran actor Taiwo Hassan, known as Ogogo, was buried in Ilaro, Ogun State, Punch reports.

Akindele’s Instagram post expressing gratitude for another year drew criticism from social media users who accused her of insensitivity toward Ogogo’s death and burial. Critics said she should have “read the room” or postponed the celebration.

However, others defended the actress, arguing that grief and personal celebrations can coexist and that life continues despite mourning. Ogogo died Sunday at 66 after battling stage-four cancer.
