Gabriel Jesus opens up on shock Arsenal departure to Barcelona
Gabriel Jesus has criticised Arsenal’s handling of his departure after completing a surprise move to Barcelona, claiming he was given no warning before being separated from the first-team squad.
According to Tribuna, the Brazilian forward said he completed Arsenal’s pre-season normally despite knowing his opportunities would likely be limited, only to suddenly begin training away from the group during the final week of the transfer window.
Jesus said the situation developed rapidly before Barcelona sporting director Deco and president Joan Laporta contacted him over a possible move. After discussions involving his agent, the 29-year-old accepted the opportunity and joined the Spanish giants.
