Ghana launches Marrify: App helps citizens verify prospective partners’ marital status before marriage

A new app designed to help Ghanaians verify the marital status of prospective partners before marriage has been launched in Accra, in partnership with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP), according to a Graphic Online report.

The app, named Marrify, was launched on August 28, 2026, and operates as a searchable digital registry pulling legal data from the Registrar-General’s Department, courts, assemblies and the Ghana Gazette. Beyond marital status checks, it allows the public to verify whether marriage venues, churches, pastors and Imams are duly licensed to conduct marriages in Ghana.

Speaking at the launch, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, commended the initiative for strengthening transparency and public confidence in marriage administration, stressing that marriage carries deep social, cultural and economic significance.
