Ghana police nab Nigerian, gun down two in foiled Accra bank robbery

Ghana Police have arrested a Nigerian, Augustine Okechuku Maazi, and killed two other suspected robbers after foiling an alleged plan to attack GCB Bank, Ecobank and Zenith Bank in Labone, Accra, according to a report by The ICIR.

The Ghana Police Service said officers acted on intelligence received on Thursday, pursuing suspects’ vehicles before a shootout left two dead; a fourth suspect escaped. Police recovered two vehicles and a blow pistol. However, GCB Bank denied any robbery occurred, stating its Labone branch and operations remained unaffected, with no customers or property impacted.
