Google introduces free 12-month AI subscription for Nigerian students
Google has launched an initiative offering eligible Nigerian students free access to Google AI Plus for 12 months, according to Punch. The Gemini Student Offer, valued at ₦92,400 per student, targets individuals aged 18 and above enrolled in accredited universities, polytechnics and colleges of education. Nigeria is among 27 Sub-Saharan African countries covered by the programme. Google’s West and East Africa Director, Olumide Balogun, said the initiative removes financial barriers to AI-powered learning. The subscription includes Gemini Omni, Deep Research, Guided Learning tutoring mode, Study Notebooks, and 400GB of cloud storage, with students verifying eligibility through SheerID.
