Gunmen strike Niger communities, abduct worshippers during Jumat service
Terrorists invaded four villages in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State on Friday, abducting an unconfirmed number of worshippers during congregational prayers, according to Peoples Gazette.
Dekara village head Umar Abubakar said gunmen struck Dekara, Sabon Gida, Masaka, and Gidan Zana around 2 p.m., with Dekara Central Mosque recording the highest number of victims. He said the attackers destroyed the community’s solar-powered communication network and had yet to make contact to state demands.
Niger State’s homeland security commissioner said he was unaware of the incident, while the police spokesman was unavailable for comment.
