Gusau: Why I stepped down as NFF president

Ibrahim Gusau has resigned as President of the Nigeria Football Federation after three years and eleven months in office, according to a report by Punch Newspapers.

Announcing his decision at a news conference in Abuja, Gusau cited his love for Nigeria and commitment to football development, adding that willing Executive Committee members had also been advised to resign.

His exit follows scrutiny over Nigeria’s failed 2022 and 2026 World Cup qualification bids, the Super Falcons’ missed 2027 qualification, and repeated Golden Eaglets setbacks, though he pledged continued support through his experience and African football connections.
