Hansi Flick breaks silence on Ronald Araujo’s shock Liverpool move
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has explained why captain Ronald Araujo is set to leave the club for Liverpool on a season-long loan. Speaking after Barcelona’s pre-season fixtures, Flick described Araujo as a “fantastic player” but admitted the defender does not perfectly suit his preferred style of play.
According to Liverpool.com, Araujo is travelling to Merseyside on Sunday for a medical before completing the move. Flick also revealed that Araujo wanted a fresh challenge following a difficult period at Barcelona. The 27-year-old made 16 starts last season after returning from a spell away from football. Liverpool will reportedly have an option worth £47 million to make the transfer permanent.
