Husband-and-wife duo make mixed doubles run at US Open

French tennis star Gael Monfils and his wife, Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina, are making a mixed doubles run at the US Open, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The report notes that few pairs in the tournament know each other as well as the couple, who have been married since 2021. Monfils, known for his flair on court, is expected to retire at the end of the season, closing out a career as one of his generation’s most talented players never to win a Grand Slam singles title.

The mixed doubles event offers him a possible final shot at major silverware.
