Boss of Don Jr-backed start-up donated to Republicans after winning contract…

The chief executive of Hadrian, a defence manufacturing start-up backed by Donald Trump Jr’s investment firm, donated nearly $450,000 to Republican causes months after securing a $900mn US government contract, according to the Financial Times.

Hadrian’s Chris Power maxed out individual donation limits to several Republican National Committee entities in July, after Trump Jr’s firm, 1789 Capital, boosted its stake in a $1.4bn funding round. The Navy awarded Hadrian the contract in March to produce submarine components in Alabama. Two other 1789 Capital partners separately gave $300,000 to the RNC the same month, federal disclosures show.
