‘I don’t decide’: Flick clarifies Barcelona’s penalty-taking process after Yamal spot-kick
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has revealed that the club’s coaching staff, rather than him personally, decides who takes penalties after Lamine Yamal stepped ahead of Raphinha to score from the spot in Sunday’s 4-2 win at Levante, according to a report by GOAL.
Yamal converted in the second half as Barcelona maintained their perfect start to the LaLiga season, with Flick explaining that players who feel ready can take responsibility.
“I don’t decide who takes the penalty; the staff decides. Whoever feels ready to take it, does it,” he said. The teenager’s goal completed his third consecutive league brace, matching Lionel Messi’s 2012-13 record of three braces in the opening five matches. Yamal now has six league goals, while Barcelona have scored 20.
