‘I keep guns and knives at my bedside’: Bashir el-Rufai threatens during public feud with lawmaker brother Bello

Bashir el-Rufai, son of former Kaduna Governor Nasir el-Rufai, has declared that he keeps guns and knives at his bedside during a heated public exchange on X with supporters of his brother Bello el-Rufai, the federal lawmaker representing Kaduna-North.

As reported by TheCable, the confrontation erupted over Bello’s perceived political loyalties, with Bashir accusing his brother of abandoning the family by remaining aligned with Kaduna Governor Uba Sani even after their father defected to the ADC in March. When an X user suggested Bello should physically confront Bashir, he responded: “Let him try. I keep guns and knives at my bedside.”

Bashir alleged Bello told him to kill himself and labelled him a hypocrite in posts, some of which were later deleted. Bello eventually joined his father in the ADC on May 7, but Bashir alleged it was only after realising he was being “dumped” by Sani.
