‘I sold my babies, stole 19 children’ — Oyo suspect confesses
A suspected child-trafficking syndicate member, Adejoke Popoola, has allegedly confessed to selling children she gave birth to and stealing others for onward sale in Oyo State.
According to The Punch, Popoola told journalists at the Oyo State Police Command in Ibadan that she had been involved in the alleged activities since October 2024.
She claimed to have sold a newborn and twins for up to N300,000, while admitting to stealing children by posing as a house seeker or spiritualist. Popoola also alleged that she kidnapped 19 children, six of whom died, while 13 survived. Police authorities are investigating the allegations.
