IDF finally admits firing on car carrying 5-year-old Hind Rajab, opens criminal probe

The Israeli military has acknowledged for the first time that it opened fire on the vehicle carrying five-year-old Hind Rajab in Gaza, announcing a criminal investigation into the killing.

According to CNN, the IDF had previously denied involvement in the January 2024 killing, but a review found troops fired at the approaching vehicle and cited “apparent failures” in coordinating a Red Crescent ambulance sent to rescue her.

The case is one of five decisions published from 150 incidents examined by the IDF’s Fact Finding and Assessment Mechanism.
