Nigerian singers Wande Coal and Davido have clashed on social media following comments Davido made about their unreleased collaboration, “Come My Way,” with fans and industry watchers now weighing in on the public disagreement.

The controversy began after Davido, during a recent podcast interview which he shared on his Instagram Story, spoke about why the collaboration never saw the light of day. According to Davido, Wande Coal initially approached him to feature on the song, after which he recorded a verse for it.

He explained that a disagreement arose when Wande Coal wanted to release the original version of the song first and reserve Davido’s verse for a subsequent remix. Davido said he did not record his contribution with the intention of it being used for a remix, insisting that this disagreement over the release plan was the reason the collaboration never came out.

“I recorded the song, then he wanted to drop the song first and use my own verse for the remix, but I was like, no, because I didn’t record the song for a remix,” Davido said, adding that his verse was “stupid hard” and “so sick, so good.”

Reacting to Davido’s account, Wande Coal took to his X handle to reject the narrative, insisting that “Come My Way” already had a release plan and date in place before any disagreement occurred. He argued that Davido was attempting to dictate the release strategy for a song that was not originally his.

“Carry song come give you as how? Song wey been get release plan and date!!! Song wey no be your own you wan dictate release plan,” Wande Coal wrote.

He further stressed that the song performed well commercially without Davido’s verse, pushing back against any suggestion that its success was hampered by the collaboration falling through.

“That song f*kin did well without you on it bruv!!!,” he added.

The exchange escalated after Davido responded to Wande Coal’s post on X, triggering further back-and-forth between the two artistes online. As of the time of filing this report, both singers have continued to trade remarks, drawing reactions from fans and observers within the Nigerian music industry, many of whom have called on both artistes to resolve their differences privately.
