Ilhan Omar breaks silence after DC raid, releases video seeking donations to fight Trump
United States Congresswoman Ilhan Omar has appealed for financial support following a federal raid on her Washington, D.C., residence amid an investigation into alleged immigration fraud.
According to Fox news, Omar made the appeal in a video posted Tuesday, thanking supporters who had contributed money following the October 12 raid.
“Please continue to support us. It’s going to be a very expensive and challenging time. So we appreciate whether you’re able to send $5, $10, $20. Thank you.”
Federal investigators are examining allegations concerning immigration documents allegedly used to obtain her citizenship.
Omar accused President Donald Trump’s administration of attempting to intimidate political opponents ahead of November’s midterm elections.
“We’re not going to be intimidated. We’re not going to be silenced. We’re not going to be scared,” she declared.
Trump, meanwhile, warned that Omar could face imprisonment if the allegations were proven.
The congresswoman denied wrongdoing and pledged to resume campaigning ahead of the elections.
