I’ll end Nigeria’s insecurity within one year, Atiku vows
African Democratic Congress presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has pledged to end Nigeria’s insecurity within one year of assuming office, restore the petrol subsidy, revive ECOMOG and bring Niger, Burkina Faso and Mali back into ECOWAS if elected in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Hausa, as reported by Daily Trust, Atiku said: “I will not take more than one year to end it. We will recruit additional security personnel, provide equipment and fund youth businesses because many are involved in crime due to unemployment.”
The former vice president also expressed doubt about INEC’s capacity for fairness, saying: “INEC will not do the right thing because it is this government that brought them,” while urging Nigerians to vote en masse and protect their ballots.
On subsidy restoration, Atiku said: “In my 79 years, I have never experienced a level of hardship that Nigerians are currently experiencing. I don’t need to consult with anyone before pledging that I will restore the subsidy.”
He reaffirmed that 2027 would be his final presidential run.
