Iran satellite images used in strike on US base? China breaks silence
China has rejected reports that Chinese entities supplied Iran with satellite images of a US military base in Jordan before and after an Iranian missile strike that killed three American soldiers.
According to The Punch, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun described the allegations as “groundless” and demanded evidence to support the claims. The reports, published by the Wall Street Journal, concerned the July 17 attack on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base.
US President Donald Trump acknowledged that Washington and Beijing conduct intelligence operations but did not directly accuse China. The development comes ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s planned White House visit on September 24.
