ITIA suspends Nick Kyrgios after testing positive for cocaine

The International Tennis Integrity Agency has provisionally suspended Nick Kyrgios under the Tennis Anti-Doping Programme after the Australian tested positive for cocaine, according to a BBC Sport report. The 31-year-old former Wimbledon finalist provided a sample at an ATP 250 event in Mallorca in June, which returned positive for benzoylecgonine, a cocaine metabolite.

Kyrgios has been suspended since August 4 and remains barred from competing or attending tournaments pending a tribunal ruling. In an Instagram statement, he apologised to fans, family and sponsors, calling it “a huge mistake” tied to the toll of recent injuries and stepping away from public life for 28 days.
