Javier Tebas confirms LaLiga ‘s statement of regret to China amid Mbappé comment

Javier Tebas’ official statement:

“LALIGA deeply regrets the statements made by Kylian Mbappé, which have caused upset and offense in China. We understand the harm caused, and on behalf of LALIGA, I would like to offer our sincere apologies to the Chinese people.

For many years, we have built a relationship based on respect, trust, and cooperation with China—including its authorities, sports institutions, media partners, and millions of fans of Spanish football.

We cannot allow the actions of one individual to tarnish this relationship or cause harm to the more than 20 clubs in our professional leagues and our millions of Chinese fans.

We are taking all measures within our power and working directly with our partners and stakeholders in China to resolve this situation.

Our commitment to China, its people, and its institutions remains steadfast. A relationship built over so many years cannot be damaged by a single, isolated incident.”
