Jose Mourinho cried to Sir Alex Ferguson after rejecting Man Utd job
Jose Mourinho has revealed that he broke down in tears while telling Sir Alex Ferguson he would not replace him as Manchester United manager in 2013. According to the Daily Mirror, Mourinho had agreed to succeed Ferguson before changing his mind and committing to Chelsea instead.
The Portuguese coach said choosing Chelsea was a decision made “with my heart”, despite describing the missed United opportunity as dramatic. Mourinho also recalled his 2010 Champions League clash with Chelsea while managing Inter Milan, admitting he viewed the match as an opportunity for revenge against former owner Roman Abramovich. The revelations feature in Mourinho’s new Netflix documentary.
