Justice after 30 years: Keffe D Found guilty of orchestrating Tupac Shakur’s 1996 murder

Former gang boss Duane “Keffe D” Davis has been found guilty of orchestrating the murder of rap legend Tupac Shakur — ending nearly three decades of one of America’s most famous cold cases — after a Las Vegas jury convicted the 63-year-old of murder with a deadly weapon on Monday.

According to the BBC, prosecutors argued that Davis, former leader of the South Side Compton Crips, ordered the September 7, 1996 drive-by shooting and supplied the weapon his nephew Orlando Anderson used to kill Shakur, even though Davis did not personally fire the shots.

The key evidence was Davis’s own words — from a 2008 police interview and his 2019 memoir, Compton Street Legend — which ultimately voided his protective agreement with authorities. Davis said he would appeal.
