Kwankwaso calls on Atiku to withdraw from 2027 race
Nigeria Democratic Congress vice-presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso has urged African Democratic Congress presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race, according to Punch Newspapers.
Speaking while receiving members of the Fulani Farmers Association at his Abuja residence, the former Kano State governor cited Atiku’s age and health, urging him to instead focus on his traditional title of Wazirin Adamawa. Kwankwaso called on Atiku’s supporters to persuade him to step aside from the contest. Atiku, who has previously contested the presidency in 2007, 2011, 2019 and 2023, said in April that the 2027 election could be his final attempt.
