Kwara monarch dies weeks after release from kidnappers
The traditional ruler of Igbesi community in Kwara State, Oba Moses Oyinloye Iwedunmoye I, has died 16 days after his release from abductors.
The monarch died early Saturday following a brief illness at a private hospital, according to Tribune Online, after his release on August 27. His son, Prince Olasunkanmi, confirmed the death, saying the family had hoped he would survive hospital treatment.
Kwara South Joint Security Watch coordinator Olaitan Oyin Zubair said the monarch appeared feeble after rescue and was suspected to have died from trauma suffered during captivity.
The Igbomina Elders Council described the death as an aftermath of the abduction and urged government at all levels to confront kidnapping and banditry in the region.
