Lindsay Clancy child-killing case ends in mistrial after jury deadlock

A judge on Friday declared a mistrial in the murder trial of Massachusetts mother Lindsay Clancy after jurors failed to reach a unanimous verdict over whether she was criminally responsible for the deaths of her three children. According to The Washington Times, the jury remained deadlocked after seven days of deliberations, prompting Judge William Sullivan to end the trial.

Clancy, 36, admitted to killing her children but pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity, with her defense arguing that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time. Prosecutors maintained that she understood her actions and was criminally responsible.
