Gov Makinde: Millions of Nigerians are stuck in poverty

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has said millions of Nigerians remain trapped in poverty despite working hard, arguing that the country’s problems go beyond those holding public office, according to a report by Daily Post.

In his newsletter, Makinde noted that despite changes in government and new policies over the years, basic outcomes for most Nigerians have stayed the same. He lamented that many young people see no clear path from school to better opportunities, while insecurity continues to disrupt lives, with many institutions meant to help citizens failing to function properly.

Makinde called for a deeper look at the systems and structures perpetuating poor outcomes for the majority of Nigerians.
