LIST: 10 African companies that top Forbes’ 2026 best employers ranking
Forbes has ranked 10 African companies among the world’s best employers for 2026, with South African firms dominating the list.
According to Business Insider Africa, the ranking was compiled with Statista after surveying more than 300,000 employees across more than 50 countries.
1. Nedbank — South Africa
Nedbank leads the African entries, ranking No. 26 globally. It is part of the continent’s dominant financial-services sector.
2. Standard Bank Group — South Africa
Standard Bank ranks No. 54 globally, making it Africa’s second-highest entry.
3. Absa Group — South Africa
Absa ranks No. 98 globally and is the third African company on the list.
4. FirstRand — South Africa
FirstRand ranks No. 104 globally, continuing South Africa’s dominance in financial services.
5. MTN Group — South Africa
MTN ranks No. 133 globally. Although headquartered in South Africa, the telecommunications group operates across several African markets, including Nigeria.
6. Investec — South Africa
Investec is the sixth-highest African entry and another financial-services company.
7. Guaranty Trust Bank — Nigeria
GTBank ranks No. 277 globally and is the only non-South African company among Africa’s top 10.
8. Sasol — South Africa
Sasol places within the global top 300 and represents the chemicals and raw-materials sector.
9. Mediclinic International — South Africa
Mediclinic represents healthcare and social services among the African entries.
10. Sanlam — South Africa
Sanlam completes the top 10, adding another South African financial-services company to the ranking.
