Luigi Mangione pleads guilty to federal stalking charges in killing of CEO
Luigi Mangione pleaded guilty on Friday to two federal stalking charges tied to the 2024 killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, according to a report by CNN. In court, Mangione admitted, “I shot Mr. Thompson and he died,” adding that he “knew what I was doing was illegal.”
Mangione’s legal team plans to seek dismissal of separate state murder charges on double jeopardy grounds, though a state trial is still scheduled to begin next month. Sentencing in the federal case is set for December 18.
