Mac Allister completes Liverpool comeback against Atletico Madrid
Liverpool began their Champions League campaign with a 2-1 comeback victory over Atletico Madrid at Anfield on Wednesday night. According to The Liverpool Offside, Atletico took the lead through Marcos Llorente in the 17th minute despite Liverpool making the stronger start. The Reds eventually found an equaliser before half-time, with Dominik Szoboszlai finishing from an Araujo backheel assist in the 40th minute.
Liverpool then completed the turnaround shortly after the restart when Alexis Mac Allister produced a powerful left-footed strike from the edge of the penalty area. Bradley Barcola missed a one-on-one before later going off with an apparent knock, while Liverpool controlled the closing stages to secure all three points. The victory also extended their run of scoring twice in each of their opening four games.
