Manchester City player ratings vs United: Foden lost head by 7/10 Haaland wins it in Old Trafford
Manchester City showed remarkable resilience at Old Trafford, winning despite Phil Foden’s early dismissal. Haaland eventually settled the derby, while City’s defence and midfield held firm under pressure.
Man City Player Ratings
Gianluigi Donnarumma – 8/10
Produced an important save from Fernandes and made a superb late stop to deny Mbeumo. Also saw the woodwork come to United’s rescue twice.
Matheus Nunes – 7/10
Looked much more assured than during his previous difficult outing at Old Trafford. Kept Rashford relatively quiet and defended with discipline.
Ruben Dias – 7/10
Led the defence impressively after City went down to 10 men. Strong in the air and composed throughout a demanding second half.
Marc Guehi – 7/10
Continued building a promising partnership with Dias. Needed to remain alert after Foden’s dismissal and handled United’s attacking pressure well.
Josko Gvardiol – 8/10
Excellent at left-back, particularly against Mbeumo. Defended confidently and delivered the crucial cross that allowed Haaland to break the deadlock.
Elliot Anderson – 7/10
Covered enormous ground in midfield and showed excellent work rate. His willingness to compete and retain possession became increasingly important after the red card.
Enzo Fernandez – 8/10
Excellent in midfield, combining defensive work with attacking intent. Produced a superb challenge on Tielemans and later struck the post.
Antoine Semenyo – 5/10
Struggled to make a consistent attacking impact and wasted opportunities. His place could come under pressure if his recent form continues.
Phil Foden – 3/10
His afternoon unravelled completely after receiving a straight red for kicking Fernandes. His dismissal left City facing a difficult 10-man battle.
Rayan Cherki – 5/10
Found it difficult to influence the contest after moving to the right. City’s attacking plans were disrupted considerably by Foden’s dismissal.
Erling Haaland – 7/10
Quiet for long periods and barely involved before half-time, but became decisive after the break with a composed finish to win the derby.
Substitutes
Iliman Ndiaye – 6/10
Brought much-needed directness after replacing Cherki. His running caused problems for United’s defence and helped City maintain an attacking outlet.
Nico O’Reilly – N/A
Introduced late as City protected their advantage. Helped provide fresh energy in midfield during the closing stages.
