Manchester United director Edward Glazer donates over $220,000 to Republican party ahead of US midterms
Manchester United director Edward Glazer has donated more than $220,000 to the Republican National Committee this year, City AM reported Friday, ahead of next week’s US midterm elections.
According to Federal Election Commission filings reviewed by the paper, Glazer gave $221,502 across eight donations through his Tampa Bay Buccaneers NFL team. City AM described him as the “leading donor to President Trump’s Republican Party” among Premier League clubs with American owners.
Other owners gave less to Republicans or backed Democrats. Crystal Palace co-owner Josh Harris gave $250,000 to a Republican-aligned group through Apollo Global Management, while AFC Bournemouth’s Bill Foley donated $201,500 in total. Arsenal’s Stan Kroenke and Fulham’s Shahid Khan have made no donations.
The vote on Tuesday could hand Democrats control of Congress. The report said Republicans were defending a three-seat Senate lead and a one-seat House lead.
