Maresca makes Premier League history as Man City win seventh straight game
Enzo Maresca has made Premier League history after leading Manchester City to seven consecutive victories at the start of his managerial reign. According to Manchester City’s official website, the Italian became the first manager to win his opening seven Premier League matches in charge of a club following Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Ipswich Town at the Etihad Stadium.
Maresca surpassed Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who each won their first six league matches with Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United respectively. City have scored 19 goals and conceded six during their winning run, collecting 21 points to establish a six-point lead at the top of the table. Chelsea’s nine consecutive victories in 2005/06 and Liverpool’s eight in 2019/20 remain the longest winning starts to a league campaign.
