Meta to restrict teens’ nighttime app use, cap daily access at two hours in US

Meta will block teenagers from using Facebook and Instagram at night and impose a two-hour combined daily limit in the US, according to a report by TheCable.

The agreement, reached with several states over claims that Meta’s platforms fostered addictive use among young people, introduces a midnight-to-6am block and muted notifications during school hours.

Teens can opt out of algorithmic feeds and autoplay, with usage reminders at 15, 60 and 90 minutes. Like counts will be hidden by default, and accounts under 13 will be deleted. Most obligations last 10 years, with daily limits enforced for five.
