Two arrested for allegedly luring Ghanaian dental assistant to Nigeria with fake Belgium job

A 26-year-old Ghanaian dental surgery assistant, Doris Ampem, was rescued after being allegedly lured to Nigeria with a fake Belgium job offer, according to a report by SaharaReporters, monitoring GHOne News.

Ampem said a woman she called her aunt, Abigail Boateng, promised her nursing work abroad, prompting her family to pay over GH¢14,000 in fees. Growing suspicious, Ampem alerted investigators, who accompanied her from Accra to Lagos, where a suspect, Emmanuel Owusu, was arrested on arrival.

Boateng was later apprehended with help from Ghana’s embassy, and both suspects were handed to Ghanaian anti-trafficking police.
