Mohammed Kudus withdraws from Ghana squad to enhance injury recovery

Tottenham forward Mohammed Kudus has withdrawn from Ghana’s squad for the latest 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers to protect his recovery from injury. Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz confirmed the decision after Kudus was initially selected for the 24-man squad following his return to competitive action after seven months out.

Kudus played more than 70 minutes for Tottenham but subsequently experienced concerns over his recovery, prompting discussions between the player and Ghana’s coaching staff. Queiroz said both parties agreed that avoiding a potential setback was the best option. Ghana will face Ivory Coast and The Gambia in their opening Group C qualifiers, with Kudus remaining with Tottenham to continue his rehabilitation.
