Mother arrested in Anambra for allegedly burning 7-year-old daughter with hot knife
The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old woman, Ogechi Ofoma, for allegedly inflicting injuries with a hot knife on her seven-year-old daughter in Ibollo community, Awada-Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area, according to a report by Punch.
The child, identified as Oluebube, was allegedly injured following an accusation that she took meat from a pot. Police spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga said the suspect was arrested Sunday through the intervention of community security personnel and residents, and is currently in custody at Awada Police Station.
The Commissioner of Police has begun collaborating with the state’s Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare to ensure the child receives medical care and protection. Commissioner Esther Onyekesi described the incident as a violation of the child’s rights.
