Naira depreciates against dollar at both official, black market rates

The Nigerian naira depreciated against the US dollar on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, trading at N1,329.8568 at the Central Bank of Nigeria’s official foreign exchange window — a decline of approximately N0.71 from Tuesday’s NFEM rate of N1,329.1485, according to CBN data.

Tribune reported that the naira closed at N1,329.5600 per dollar at the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market on Wednesday.

At the parallel market, the currency held steady compared to the previous trading day, with Aboki FX reporting buying and selling rates of N1,380 and N1,385 per dollar respectively — reflecting a premium of approximately N55 above the official rate.
