Todd Boehly sells Chelsea stake as Clearlake takes full control of Club

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has sold his stake in the club as Clearlake Capital moves to take full control of Stamford Bridge. Boehly and Mark Walter have exited four years after joining the ownership group that purchased Chelsea from Roman Abramovich in 2022.

The Independent reported that the latest deal could be worth around £950 million. Clearlake, alongside minority owner Hansjorg Wyss, will acquire the remaining stakes, which represent about a quarter of the club. Chelsea said there would be no changes to the club’s day-to-day operations, leadership or strategy following the ownership restructuring.

Boehly described his time as chairman as an honour and said he was confident Chelsea were positioned for continued success under Clearlake. The Blues currently sit sixth in the Premier League after four matches.
