NCDC: Lassa fever deaths climb to 252
Nigeria’s Lassa fever death toll has risen to 252, according to Daily Trust, which cited the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention’s latest situation report. The NCDC recorded 14 new confirmed cases in week 33, across Ondo, Bauchi, Edo, and Benue states, bringing cumulative infections to 1,035.
The case fatality rate rose to 24.4 percent, higher than 2025’s 18.6 percent. By week 33, 23 states had reported at least one case across 117 local government areas. The agency said surveillance and response efforts would continue as transmission fluctuates nationwide.
