NCoS ousts Ibara custodial centre boss, two others over inmate’s viral TikTok live
The Nigerian Correctional Service has removed the officer in charge of Ibara Medium Custodial Centre in Abeokuta, along with two other principal officers, following a death row inmate’s viral TikTok live stream, according to The Guardian Nigeria.
Controller General Sylvester Nwakuche called it a “serious breach of custodial security” in a Thursday statement. The prohibited phone used has been recovered, and the inmate transferred to a facility with enhanced security. The NCoS said investigations continue into possible complicity by officers or external collaborators, warning of severe sanctions for anyone found responsible.
