Netherlands moves 86 tons of gold out of USA due to ‘geopolitical unrest’…
The Netherlands has moved 86 tonnes of gold from the US and Canada to London, citing “increasing geopolitical unrest,” according to the Daily Mail. Dutch central bank DNB President Olaf Sleijpen said the shift would “spread risks” and improve crisis preparedness, though he doesn’t expect the gold to ever need deployment.
Following the transfer, London now holds 32.1% of Dutch gold reserves, up from 18.1%, while the US and Canada’s combined share fell to 18.5%. A Dutch auction house director previously warned that President Trump could delay repayment or block extradition of the reserves.
