Netherlands moves gold reserves from US to London over Trump fears
The Netherlands has relocated 86 tonnes of gold from the US and Canada to London, citing “increasing geopolitical unrest” under President Donald Trump.
According to the Daily Mail, Dutch central bank president Olaf Sleijpen said the move would “spread risks” and boost crisis preparedness, even though the gold would likely never need deploying.
London now holds the largest share of Dutch reserves at 32.1%, up from 18.1%, while the US and Canada’s combined share fell to 18.5%.
Experts have warned gold is “no longer safe” in Trump’s America.
